Civ 3 Conquests problems
Just had to do a full system re-install, including all the games...
Anyway, I managed to get Civ3 and PTW to install and run OK. However when I tried to run Conquests all I get is a black screen (just like both of the others) then right back to the desktop (not into the intro screens).
I have tried a complete uninstall including all of the files it leaves behind and cleaning the registry. Re-installed and had the same problem (exact same).
After I calmed down I tried downloading and instaling the update to the game. Again with the black screen/desktop. Following the yell/scream/holler fest I again un-installed the game.
Tried to get help from the game sites, but their support is less than helpful.
On my last attempt I tried all of the above plus the "repair" option from the game disk (just reinstalls the game). Still getting black screen/desktop.
I have tried using compatability options (window, system...) no luck. Checked my drivers and DirectX, all up to date.
I have had this copy of Conquests installed and running before (on this system and previous systems). Never had problems before, and certainly not this one.

First, do you own a legitimate copy of this game?
Also what are your computer hardware specs?
P.S. Congrats on 1000th post haha

First, yes it is a legitimate copy. (???)
As for hardware; AMD 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+, 2GB Ram, NVidia GeForce 8500 GT 512 MB
Finally; Hoorah!!! I just noticed that myself! (I am so self impressed)

I can't, not effectively...
Just did a full wipe and install of the whole system, so I don't have any drivers to roll back to (other than the base windows drivers).

You can download older/archived drivers as well and try those.

Nemowolf: Didn't think about downloading older drivers (OK, I'm just a little dense. But I always think about downloads to update, not down-date).
I will give that a try later today and get back to you. I hope (time constraints).
