HELP! I need support to build Gaming PC

ok i will give this a shot...
Budget 1500+/-

I want to game, I dont wanna have any compatibility issues, I want to buy parts to save a few bucks. I have monitor, mouse , keyboard. Sound system/headset. I dont need that. OK heres what i want an am tryin to figure it all out, but it is driving me nuts, an i cant seem to get this all down without second guessing myself.

CPU: think i7 920?
Motherboard: I donno because i guess it depends on what CPU-Graphics card-sound-... ect i pick
Memory: 6-8GB ram please! I love ram
hard drive: 500gb or 320gb with seperate 200+- data
Video cards: do i go dual? or spend a few more for a super sweet one? i was thinking Nvidia 1gb? maybe go for 1.7gb? do i leave room for dual SLI or Xfire? DX11!
chassis: I have not a clue! Med tower? I could care less what it looks like.
POwer Supply: again i get confused here.
OS: win 7 basic.
Cooling: More fans? or liquid? do i also get a heatsync for the MB/Cpu
USB expansion: do i need with my motherboard? would like 2 front an 2-3 on back.
wireless net connect: how do i manage that? or do i hard wire.
Optical: bargin DVD R RW

HELP! I am freakin out already , i mean i can get halfway down the list before i start to freak out, I am having a CPU tech put it all together. But i hate to ask him for answers cuz he has way better things to do than give me what seems to be a tech course. I mean crap i havent built a CPU since the first color screen came out. heck half the tech guys i know laugh at me :P I just wanna be sure i am ordering what i need instead of goin in this half assed. I am tryin to read up on this as much as i can , but i think i am confusing myself all the more, an half the HELP forums are so out of date i cant rely on the Newest an best for my money advice. I just would love some help from someone who knows a bit, an I think i am scared away from the IBUYPOWER / CYBERPOWER Biuld your own sites. for ALOT OF REASONS. I dont want to go through this all an get a complete piece of crap with sub par parts that are gonna burn up in a puff of smoke, an im out 1500, plus i would love to finally make my dream gaming PC well for the next year or so till its all out of date

Well firstly, welcome to TechIMO.

Hope you are not paying alot to have it built as it is very easy to piece it all together.

CPU - I7 D0
Mobo - EVGA LE or ASUS P6T
RAM - 3x2GB OCZ Gold 1600Mhz
PSU - Corsair 850W
GPU - 5850
HDD - 500-750GB Caviar Black
Optical - DL DVDRW
Case - (matter of opinion... ) mabye 690 II

I cant do a list of links atm....

Get 6GB of RAM as it needs to be triple channel to make the most of the 1366 platform.

Its always best to go with one powerfull video card and mabye add a second at a later date.

Get some caviar black HDD's and possibly raid them, you can even look into an SSD.

Case is personal choice really, but you would best get a full tower.

Extra fans is always handy to have, and look into a CPU heatsink... Something like the megahalem.

The 5850 is about the best value you'll get in that price range.

Also, make sure to check newegg, much of the stuff is cheaper.
Newegg.com - POWERCOLOR AX5850 1GBD5-MDHG Radeon HD 5850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

Pretty much all the stuff you've picked is extremely over-priced. You can save 30-50% on some stuff just by not buying into the marketing garbage on what is basically the same stuff.
Newegg.com - OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Voltage Desktop Memory Model OCZ3G1600LV6GK - Desktop Memory

SLI and Crossfire are the biggest wastes of money in a system. 2 1/2 times the cost of a single video card and only a 30-70% performance increase if the game supports it.

Newegg.com - Prolimatech Megahalems Rev.B CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks

Pick up a 120mm fan to put on it.... otherwise loks good... I suggest you get parts from egg.. Also get the OCZ gold memory....

Is your version of Win 7 Basic 32 bit or 64 bit?

WOW Your right, NewEgg all the way , saved a ton actually. an even upgraded some things a bit, an got a few more extras. one thing is how many fans? i looked an couldnt figure it out. heres what i got goin on, pretty much same as before but think its slightly better quality:

CPU: Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80601920 - Retail
MBO: ASUS P6T LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1600C8D - Retail
GPU: POWERCOLOR AX5850 1GBD5-MDHG Radeon HD 5850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Retail
PSU: CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-950TX 950W ATX12V v2.3/EPS12V v2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Retail (Upgraded a little from the 850wPSU is it ok?)
Disk: Western Digital Caviar Black WD5001AALS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Optical: Sony Optiarc 24X DVD/CD Rewritable Drive Black SATA Model AD-7240S-0B - OEM
Case: COOLER MASTER CM690 II Advanced Black Steel body / Plastic + Mesh bezel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail

EXTRAS:
1. Rosewill RCR-IM5001 USB2.0 75 in 1 internal Card Reader w/ 3 ports USB2.0 Hub / eSATA port / Extra silver face plate - Retail
2. Prolimatech Megahalems Rev.B CPU Cooler - Retail
3. CORSAIR CMXAF1 Fans - Retail
4. APEVIA CF12SL-UBL 120mm Blue LED Case Fan - Retail

I went with the corsair ram , i liked it more an looks like about same price as the OCZ gold. Now i heard something about 6gb ram being tricky? 2-4-8gb being the more stable options? Other than that i think i am very happy an will be glad i went with these, all for 1600$ on the nose! damn i am super excited, but like i said i want everything compatiable i am not so concerned about expansion, but i think this will last me a good long while. keeps me ahead of the standard for gaming a bit.

yay or nay?

Well that 950w unit could run that system with 3 of those 5850's with loads of room to spare....

You could get 3 of those fans one for the cooler and two for the case.... (or even two on the cooler).

That system will play pretty much anything maxed (with a couple of exceptions) You can overclock that i7 to an easy 3.6ghz-3.8ghz, mabye even pick up another 5850 (or even a 5870) if you feel the graphic perormance is dropping over time.

Or way too much time on my hands...

You can get an internal pci wireless card, or an external USB adapter, or you can just use a wire....

No worries.... Glad some peeps are grateful....

How can you say those Corsair modules are even close to the same price? Corsair is $210 and the OCZ is $140. It's 50% more expensive.

A 950w power supply is just insane, a good 500w would be plenty.

ok sweet an to answer the module thing, one thing i learned in my years ... you can never have enough wattage, an you can never ever have enough ram an i have a sweet deal on a EVGA 017-P3-1175-AR GeForce GTX 275 1792MB 448-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card - Retail brand new from the guy that is puttin this together for 200, brand new retails for looks like 300, again compatibility is the issue?

an man your right there are alot of ungrateful people , thats a given i think this day in age.

if i can save 100 bucks i would be even happier :P I need a new mouse.

an i have , belive it or not done a TON of research an checks on the quality of stuff, an i just see more issues with the OCZ ram. i donno ill think on that one.
