    Gaming laptop

I was wondering what people's thoughts were for gaming laptops on the market. I am looking to buy a new laptop and I would prefer that it could run any game on the market well (even though gaming is no longer my sole concern).

Ideally, I'd be looking to play games like starcraft 2, Diablo 3 if it comes out. WOW, CoD, Dragon Rising...

I was looking at the new dv8T's from hp,

and i found an interesting build from Toshiba - Although i have never heard anything good about toshiba laptops :/

Also i was looking at Asus
    Newegg.com - ASUS G Series G73JH-A3 NoteBook Intel Core i7 720QM(1.60GHz) 17.3" 8GB Memory 1TB HDD 7200rpm BD Combo ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870

I don't like DELL so i'm ignoring the AlienWare computers.

I don't mind spending money on laptops but I'd rather pay under 3000.

Can anyone recommend a good system?

Well TBH, those laptops are quite extreme (i7 and 5870) You wouldn't need anything more than that... The toshiba looks nice and even comes with an SSD.... Also comes with a better battery (which is important as they will drain very quickly with all that hardware).

Any reason you need a gaming laptop when you can get a cheap one and a desktop to play your games?

Unfortunately I am rarely at home anymore.
I have a desktop that I built myself a couple years ago that I never get to use.

I spend a lot of time in airports, wifi spots and flying to various places in my free time.
(mom's a travel agent and I fly for free)

The rest of my time is spent at school, honestly at this point I don't even know why I pay rent as I sleep at the library half the time.

its a tough call, the Asus has the vastly superior graphics hardware, but as Aaron pointed out the Toshiba has the better battery.

though the Mobile GPU on the toshiba is probably closer related to a Desktop GT 240 GPU judging by the chips specs. so your probably looking at a Sub $100 GPU compared to a $300-400 GPU (give or take a bit, not sure if the Mobile 5870 is spec'd the same as the Desktop, or if its closer to a 5850)

forget the HP, its ONLY GPU offered in those DV8T's are no where even close to the other two laptop's GPU's. (half the power of the Toshiba's GPU, and no where even close to the Asus's)

Id say your best bet is one of these .... Bang for the buck

If your in school, stop spending downtime gaming and start learning! LOL! Just my 2 cents though.
