Can't host custom WC3 games anymore
Alright, a couple of weeks ago I decided to start hosting.
My router is a Belkin F5D7234-4v3
I forwarded all the ports necessary (6112-6119 TCP and UDP) after creating a static ip. I then wasn't able to host until I also opened up 4000 TCP. Everything was going great until after a few days I suddenly was unable to host. Basically:
My firewall is turned OFF
I have created a static ip
I have forwarded all necessary ports
I have tried DMZ
Nothing seems to be working.
Any help would be great!
Cheers,
Frasbo

How did you "create" a static IP?

Went into command prompt, typed ipconfig/all and took down my:
IPv4 address
Subnet Mask
Default Gateway
and went to my routers home page and got the DNS.
I then went into the properties of my local area connection and then the properties of Internet Protocol Version 4. There I put in all the information and assigned the IP address 192.168.2.10 (as opposed to my routers IP of 192.168.2.2).
I'm fairly certain I set it up all correctly as I have port forwarded on a couple of computers. This is the only one I've had any trouble with (it is the first pc I've run on Vista).
Does any of this help?
Cheers,
Frasbo

You assigned yourself a static ip to your Internal network but that is not a static ip for the internet. That is probably the problem you have as most if not all residential internet runs on leases and when they expire you lose that IP.
Now on to the legal. Unless you are running a business and have static IPs, you may be violating the terms of service by "hosting a server" on your connection. Many companies such as comcast block certain ports for incoming FTP, SMB, and HTTP requests. You have gotten yourself blocked because you violated the TOS. I would highly recommend you read the TOS to make sure that you are within your right to host and then call to check what is going on.
This of course is all dependent on you expecting to host externally rather than internally.

Hey,
Thanks for your reply. I've already checked and we still have the same IP and I am not violating any of the Terms of Service.
For some reason I was able to host again today (I had not changed anything), so I guess I'm resigned to the fact that I may only be able to host every second week (or something like that anyway
)
Would taking my laptop to University and using the internet there change any of the settings on my laptop so I would be unable to host when I was at home (where I assigned the Static Ip and forwarded my ports)?
Thanks for your your help
Cheers,
Fraser

I lied. I watched 1-15 or 16. I don't really feel like watching the rest right now though.
