Battlefield 2 crash to desktop
This has never occurred on my single core computer, but on my quad core (Q6600) with Windows XP 64 the game starts fine (which was another problem) and when it loads a map half way in the game will crash to the desktop. I tried window mode to see the error which was something about a file mising I think. I have sense uninstalled it for the fourth time, so I'll have to take a screen shot next time it happens. This only does this when the 1.41 patch is installed. I'm going to try just patching to 1.3 and see if it still does the same thing. The thing is I want to play this mod called AIX which I have done so before on my single core computer just fine. But I think the mod needs the 1.41 patch installed. I'm going to try just the 1.3 patch instead and see what happens.
I see other people are having crash to desktop issues as well with the 1.5 patch.

Some other things that are happening here. Sometime Firefox will crash and I have had a few other games crash too. I'm going to run memtest for awhile and see what's up. Should I run just one stick at a time or..?
Sometimes I get bad file downloads . Like the file was corrupted on download. The file downloads but some files like the large ones will have have been corrupted or have a crc check sum error. I don't know. Just threw this out there too... Don't know what to think.Last edited by Taxmancometh; December 28th, 2010 at 09:49 PM.

I think you can run Memtest with all your sticks in, would take less time than running tests, then swapping out sticks, and running again, etc.
It should tell you what slot the bad stick if any is in.
but many times its recommended to test each stick separately, especially if your running the Bootable Disk or CD version of Memtest.
I prefer running Memtest86+ over standard Memtest, since its supposed to be much more up to date than the older original version:

Well , I finally got it to work. I installed the game then straight away installed patch 1.41. I went into my profile under My Documents and changed all of the video settings to 1. I thought maybe the gemotreis were giving me problems. Seems to run now. I have tested all my sticks of ram (four i total) with a couple passes and they seem to all be fine. I'm going to test one stick at a time over night for the next four nights and see what I find.

Well, I found the culprit! After running Memtest86 + over night I discovered that one of the sticks of RAM is bad. I'm not sure which though, but based on the memory place it says in the grid @ 6500 MB there is like 150 errors. So I assume that this would be the third stick of RAM sense I have 4 * 2 GIG sticks. So I'll test that third stick just by its self tonight and see what happens.
