Oblivion: Elder Scrolls yellow screen bug?

I just bought Oblivion on Steam and I frequently run in to yellow screen overlays. For example if a rat bites me in the very first area the whole screen turns yellow for a moment then goes away, I'm assuming that's a screen overlay indicating damage.

This happens if i hit tab to bring up the character screen too, I can see the interface and my character but the area that should be alpha'd out behind him is pure bright yellow.

Z Depth problems?

My graphics card is a Nvidia GTX 465 with latest drivers. Fully updated windows 7 64bit, 8gb ram, Core i7 2.8.

I can't find anything on this bug anywhere on the web. Anyone have an idea?

Try Bethesda's forums, or tesnexus.com. Lots of people there that know all about the bugs in the game.

I have a GTX260 with the updated drivers, same OS and everything, and I've never had that problem.

Same here, GTX 470, latest Drivers, Updates etc, Same OS, and am able to run the game (plus all its Official Expansions and Plugins), on Maximum in game settings, plus additional eye candy enhancements forced on via the Nvidia Control panel.

Aside from stuttering/hiccup effect from the games lack of being able to keep up accessing the hard drive (loading area's/content ahead of the character in outdoor environments), the game runs perfectly at 1920x1080.

Also have never encountered the Yellow screen bug either, and have had/played the game since it came out.


Could be an issue with the Steam Download version of the game too.
