We're going to need a bit more info than that.

As you put it "Nvidia Gfore 256 Dedicated" could mean quite a few different options. As far as I can tell from that, it's an lowend/onboard gpu sharing memory with the system.

Also, what resolution and settings are you playing?

What is the exact model of your laptop? The DV6000 series can vary greatly.

Regardless, being that you even mentioned the dedicated ram, I can almost bet that this is a case of the gpu being too weak. World at war is hardly an overly demanding game, but it is definitely too much for any gpu sharing system memory.
    Main PC: AMD FX-8350 / 16gb DDR3 1600 / AMD 7970GE 1200mhz Core & 1600mhz Mem / Win7 Pro 64bit

LMAO, Nvidia Geforce 256 was the ORIGINAL, Geforce series card back over a decade ago.

as Solo mentioned, your going to need to be more specific on which Geforce chip it is.

Also could help being more specific on your Laptop model, HP Pavilion DV6000, covers a broad range of laptops in that DV6000 series.

as you can see here: HP Pavilion dv6000 Entertainment Notebook PC series*-* Download drivers and software - specify product name - HP Business Support Center

OHHH the memory is 256 Mb... hmm

I have had little experience with the 8*** series and earlier....except my dell XPS with a 8600GT...... but from what I can understand the card is crap.. But I have seen smooth gameplay with it on that game specifically....

Try going into advanced graphic controls in the game and turn it off auto and turn down the specs to low or medium.... also turn off any AA.... turn body count to low... or off..... turing off the Hit Marker seems to work also....

but theres alot you can do to increase performance on that game... even if it means turning down the resolution
