    I need keyboard light ideas...

I like to play first-person shooters in the dark to reduce glare from lights in the room. I'm thinking of getting a new computer desk and was going to install a light of some sort to shine on my keyboard keys. I'd simply rely on the monitor's light but the games I play tend to be really dark, so dark that they really don't light up my keyboard enough.

So I'm looking for ideas for lights. I need a low powered light, something that illuminates the keys but isn't distracting. I guess the brightness of the light might not matter since I can build a opaque plastic shield to block the light from shining in my eyes. What I was thinking was using a "rod light", kind of like what people put over their fishtanks that use normal tube light bulbs. But I'd need a really small one to mount underneath the top surface of the desk and have enough room to pull the keyboard shelf out. Does anyone know where I can get a real small rod light with a switch on it? I'm thinking of something that uses bulbs less than a half-foot in length and no bigger than a half-inch in diameter.

If I can't figure something out I might have to resort to getting a cheap laptop "snake light" that plugs into the USB if I can find one with a long enough cord. I'm hoping to find a good rod light though because I think it would be cool to mount it to the desk and have it look a part of the actual desk.

Any other ideas for a light would be appreciated. I don't know much about electronics so I probably wouldn't be able to wire a LED light.
