yeah, been waiting on this since I first heard about it earlier this year, late last year.
Got a classmate/friend that is waiting on it too, helped him piece together a new system, should be this month some time when he buys his new PC, if he's still commited to dropping $1700 on a "prebuilt" but solid gaming rig, Core i5/i7 Quad, GTX 680, etc. I think it was one of the iBuyPower or something Chimera series Gamer rigs sold on Newegg, BEAUTIFUL case with the graphics on it.
If its still in stock.
He hasn't had a custom or high end PC, since his Dell XPS system from 7 or 8 years ago. and wants to ditch console gaming and get into PC again, since he hasn't been into that since then.
When I enticed him with some of the games I play, am interested in, and the modding communities and replay value, he was almost instantly convinced, and willing to drop the dough on a new system, bit more than he planned, but if he can get the same longevity out of it, or even half that of his previous system, then he's cool with that.
though I warned him, the Upgrade bug is contagious and can be dangerous, to the point of doing incremental upgrades every year LOL.
Myself I have one of the Cities XL games, I think 2011 version, maybe it was 2012, its a good game in idea, and has some great features, but like the versions before it, still a LOT of bugs, and terrible slow down lag when using various features of the game. Add to that, the Multiplayer server part was never reactivated or rebuilt with new servers when the game franchise was bought up after the parent company went belly up. And here it is, they now have a 2013 version of the series... until they can address the damn issues in the current games, I'm not dropping any more money into that series.
the new SimCity, may be the cure, if it doesn't end up too proprietary, with Mod Support like all prior Sims Games.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

As much as I love this series, EA has also screwed up this classic.
An always on DRM system is the start of it. Origin MUST be installed to play/update it. And you MUST always have a online connection, or you cannot play the game.
To bad. Game looks pretty fun..Q6600@4Ghz | i7 920@4.4Ghz |E6320@3.5Ghz

Wow... Way to go EA, way to screw over your customer base.
if it was a browser based game I could understand an always on Internet Connection, but this is just ridiculous.
At least Steam allows you to run most games in the offline mode of Steam.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

Did not know that..

Been looking forward to this since I've first heard of it. I mean, I'll still get it, as always online won't bother me much - but I know enough people that would love to play this wherever, whenever.
Plus, if you lose your connection you can't play, and for a game like this, that's always been ridiculous to me.Main PC: AMD FX-8350 / 16gb DDR3 1600 / AMD 7970GE 1200mhz Core & 1600mhz Mem / Win7 Pro 64bit

Didn't starcraft 2 have the same bs setup, minus the origin crap?
DRM and always online needed.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

There will probably be a cracked version out within less than a week of the official release, with no forced internet connection.

DRM sucks, but supporting piracy is even worse. I hate DRM.... let me show them why it sucks by pirating it!!!

I really don't want to pirate the game, I'd rather buy it, but with the stupid thing wanting a constant Internet connection that means I can't play it at say the airport. DRM is stupid!

I agree that piracy is a bad thing. And I'm sure it makes whoever lose some money in one way or another. But DRM and always online SINGLE player games are not the answer. Ubisoft tried this, and after 2 years of people raging and boycotting, they finally gave it up. (Plus with the massive security hole Uplay left, they were forced to really)
I just can't understand why EA would make a classic SINGLE player game be forced to have a net connection. It's bad enough we have to use the terribad Origin to download play the game, but why is a connection to the net needed?
I won't pirate this, as I don't want to become 'one of the stats' EA loves throwing out anytime someone brings up DRM/Piracy. I'm simply just going to stop playing/buying/supporting/recommending any games they force the EA label onto.
While I know this will achieve nothing, at least it makes me feel a bit better knowing I'm not giving money to greedy/shady corporations. You would think after EA was voted The worst company in America, they would change some things...

When you are referring to Ubisoft are you referring to Ghostrecon? I was a member of a Ghostrecon forum and they were all taking about this.
It doesn't surprise me that EA is labeled as the worst company. I just bought BF2 and it's expansion packs on eBay and the serial number worked now someone has hijacked it and I can't use a majority of multiplayer servers. I went to EA's website to no avail. and then called them and went in circles.
I'm screwed!
