counter Strike Problem!!!
Ok, I just bought the ORIGINAL half-life, installed it, got the patch (1.1.1.1 or something) and installed it, i download CS and DoD, i installed them, i go into CS and go to Play Online, I then click the Update button to bring up the servers, and then it runs throough all these server names, goes back to the main screen (the screen after you click Play online...with the box where the servers should be) and nothing is there, i wait 5-10 mins, NOTHING
How do i escape this misery? (ANY HELP???)
thank you and bye (same problem with DoD)stu_waZ_here (and he liked it)

what filters are you running? it sounds to me like you set some filter that ruled out everything. also you could always re-install cs, no biggie.

Filters
I am running the filters that seem to make sense, they wouldn't have a filter that blocked everyhting out, well that wouldn't make sense
thanks for posting
(at the bottoms it lists number of server but says 0 players) ???stu_waZ_here (and he liked it)

I just never turn on any filters. Its supposed to take ahwile to get the server list. In fact, a LONG time, unless you have T3
But you dont have the little download server list window do you? Maybe it can't connect to the network? Hmmmmm.....

are you waitng a FULL 5-10 minutes? (you shouldn't have to, but I have to ask...)
reason I ask is mine does basically the same thing: the whole time it's updating it says 0 players online at the bottom, then the update finishes and quite often theres nothing listed, but in about 1 - 3 minutes (a "full & honest" 1-3 minutes, I'm very patient!!
) the list shows up...
also, is it showing the names of servers in the smaller window while the update runs?? if not then somethings might not be right...
ciao...

well, it shouldn't take any more than 3-5 minutes from the time the update finishes, to the time the servers are displayed. but (for me anyways) it does take a couple minutes for them to display...
I have only "Game=Counterstrike" set as a filter and I believe I get over 20,000 servers back...
g'luck!

also, in your "half-Life" folder, find the file "favsvrs.dat" and see how big it is. this is the list of servers. Mine's over 12MB!! if you want you can also open it with notepad to see if there are any entries in it, but if it has any size(kb's/mb's) then there should be something in there...
if you really want, I can email you my favsvrs.dat file, don't worry, it's only 620KB zipped!!
cheers!

Thread: Resurrection

However much I hate Steam, it's about the only solution now, since WON is getting phased out.
