Dose a 100 ping diffrence matter?

me and a friend were playin gsome jedi knight 2 tongiht (well morning) and sence i hosted i had a 0-5 ping and he had a 90-225 ping. hes saying the only reason i won (4 kill diffrence when we quit) was i had the no ping. i allways though it didn't matter untill like 500 or so. i'd liek to get seom real peoples answers.

    thanks

Hmm... I think a 100 ping is satisfactory. I wouldn't be suprised if he's experiencing some lag, though..

i've played with higher though. back when i played cs i had a at least a 300+ on dial up and it was ok. only when it spiked did i notice it. and i've had my @$$ handed to me in jedi knight by some guy wiht over 400 ping and me wiht the 0-5 ping. thats Y i don't think it matters that much. i don['t notic ethe jumping around unless there over 600 or so. my thought was hes used to being on 100Mbit lan and jsut owning everyone in sight. well i palyed it a few times sence then and i think he jsut couldn't take it. i mean my other friend has AOL and only has about a 250 or os on my server and he can own ppl. ( not me but ppl) and another friend on cable gets 100 or so and can do the same as other. (i'm just better then them) stupid pings make no sence to me. AHHHHH

It can matter, yes. It won't make a crappy player a good player or vice-versa, but between two close opponents it can easily make the difference between winning or losing. Especially with the fast weapons like sniper rifle and shock rifle.

Now if you had the 5 ping and he had a 50-60 ping or less, then he'd have no excuse. When the ping gets into triple digits then it's very noticable. I won't even play on servers were I'm getting over a 125-150 ping.

you had the advantage by hosting. how well do you do against each other at a site where you ping similarly. another way is have him come over and you 2 lan a game....may the winner be known...

Ping I must say also depends on the game, certain games can be playable at higher pings while other are just not doable. MOHAA is one where if a ping was around 300... with me being 100... I would waste him everytime, when hosting, it is a bigger advantage yet.

So although it does make a difference, I would still say its game dependant.

another way to find out is have your friend host the game and you play him again. see how it goes. but the guy who hosts, except for a lan game, has the advantage.

oh well. it looks like the next lan party is gogin to be a jedi knight tourney again. i lost the first time. (it was the actual first time i played the game) and he dosn't want to host i got the better internet connection. i don't think jedi is effected by lag alot beacuse my friend on AOL says he barley notices the lag (ping of 200+) he used to be able to beat me in the game but i got better.... and i will post the results after the lan party. hopefully i make it far enough to fight him...

Yeah. If you're pingin' between 0-5, and the other dude is at 100.. You have a HUGE advantange over him. With that 0 ping. you're pretty much at real time with everything. Him at 100 ping, is takin' alot longer for every move, every fire, etc. to register. How ever, 100 ping is NOT that bad, just tonight I was in a Q3 server pingin' at 100, and I wasted someone that was pingin' 10-25. Then there's been times when I've just been OWNED by someone with 200-250 ping, while my ping was 30-50. So IMO, the bottom line comes down to SKILLZ.
When you play him at the LAN, that will be the decidin' factor, if you OWN HIM
