Heros in Sinlge player should be automatic, you should have 1-2 the entire campaign. For Skirmishes and all, you shoudl be able to create them with a ceartain building..
Im not sure, but I think the "Narrating campaigns" that you are talking about is because you have to beat the game using a ceartain order, Like playing the Human campaign first, Then the Undead, then the Orcs, then the Elves.. I am pretty sure thats how it goes... If you do not play them in order then it lets you play the "opening" levels that let you get the storyline.. and then it drops you back to the menu to start playing the game in order..
I think this is right, if im wrong.. someone else will know more about this game then me.. I beat it and havn't played it since..
