Hey Jayman,
I downloaded the patch v1.2.0722.exe and when I wanted to install the patch, it stopped because it couldn't find the right patch. Since I installed Tribunal, my version was updated to 1.3.0.1029, which now appears in the bootom left of the screen while playing. That version doesn't seem to have solved the problem of crashing the game.
But then again I probably shouldn't be playing for more than 4 hours nonstop |

Ahh yeh, with tribunal that patch wont work (tribunal is newer so would include that patch already). Hmm never played tribunal, gonna wait till i get thru morrowind 1st, so perhaps there is some issues with tribunal....
But yeh, i'd still recomend getting more ram, its not that expensive.

It depends on what kind of RAM you have. Unfortunately I have RDRAM which is much more expensive than SDRAM. The Windows version I have is Millenium. I cannot complain about it. The only times I had to install Win ME again was after deleting to many entries in the registry. It taught me not to mess with things I know nothing about.
I found out that the biggest chance of crashing the game is by travelling great distances. And then especially Ascadian Isles region. |

We went and made our own plugin for the Hlaalu stuff. Added a bunch more quests and expanded the Haalu house. Gave it a basement and whatnot. Also added another house near Suran which you can stay at after you figure out how to open the door. You find it on one of the quests.
Generally, I don't keep the stuff I get. We have a merchant with a million in gold stationed in Balmora. Suffice it to say that there isn't much I can't afford.
All of our plugins (we have many) are current version plugins. If anyone is interested, PM me.

Yuck, Millenium Edition? That's most likely your problem, Ghosty. ME has a huge memory leak problem, which means after using it for hours on end, you gradually "run out" of RAM. I don't know how it works, but I do know it's true. I used to have ME and it did that exact same thing to me. Not just in Morrowind, but with anything. ME just gets slower and slower, until you restart the PC.
Ever since I upgraded to XP, that's gone away and Morrowind doesn't really get slow after a while anymore. Maybe a little, but it's hardly noticable, and it barely ever crashes anymore. With ME it would crash because of the memory leak problems.
But Morrowind really does want 512 MB of RAM to work properly. 256 MB is the minimun requirement if using XP, which is what I have (256MB and XP), and it runs okay.
Oh, and of course, if you really want Morrowind to run good at all, you need a NO-CD Crack. Seriously, the game doesn't keep stopping for a couple seconds every few feet anymore, it's great! Runs much smoother and gets better FPS. |

That's weird. Mine still froze on area loads even with the CD crack. |

The CD Crack gets rid of the "CD-Checking" freezes, but the game still has to stop occasionally to load the exterior. |

I'm pretty sure there is an ini setting you can change to also help the occasional pauses. i think its "threadload" or something like that, if u set it so that it doesn't threadload i think its mean to reduce the amount of times that it loads, but the times that it does load will take longer....
