DoomIII thought
I just had a thought about Doom3. Well all the screen shots have been awesome, but I haven't really been thinking about the doom universe when I've been seeing them. I just suddenly really rememberd Doom. When I remembered Doom I rememberd the clanking noise of the brain spiders. Those SPIDERS are going to be in Doom3 probably! Or at least creatures of equal or greater fright! Those spiders scared the bejeves outa me! I can't wait for Doom3! The great moments of realizing that your outa ammo, and...it's time to run!
I also heard something interesting somewhere that Doom3 will support multiplayer a little. It will support 4 person co-op, 4 way deathmatch, and 1on1 deathmatch. I think, I have no links, so take this with a grain of salt, but unless it was a dream, I'm fairly confident I did read this!
Also I heard something interesting saying that you would only be able to run for a certain amount of time. You'll have a stamina bar that will run out as you run, so expect to be walking a lot! Very interesting stuff!
Also one last amazing thing is my penny pinching cousin says he's going to upgrade his computer big time! Money is not a problem which is something that is truely amazing if you know him!

i can't comment on the co-op, but it will have up to 4 person deathmatch. I've been following this game very very closely for about a year now i think. Heck, pretty much the entire reason i went to quakecon was to learn more about Doom III. What excites me is when i read the latest article in pc gamer (i think it was) and they talked about the story line. It's basically going to be a remake of the original, not a sequal.
in two words:
I WANT I WANT I WANT I WANT I WANT
(ok so that was 2 words repeated 5 times)

Some quotes from the December 2002 PC Gamer article on Doom III:
OK, I have to go clean up now... Slobbering all over my keyboard!...Doom III is a classic (traditional/established/expected) run-and-gun action game. Well, more of a creep-and-fire-erratically-in-a-panic-fueled-frenzy action experience.
...
The only genuine revolution is in the technology. The only gameplay innovations will be derived from manipulating that technology in original ways to scare the bejeezus out of you. "Unapologetically, there are no secondary-fire modes," says (Tim) Willits of potential features that were left out, "and no leap-jump strafing."
...
...you won't find a Use key...
...
A chainsaw...pistol, shotgun, and assault rifle...plasma rifle...the BFG is confirmed but under wraps, and the rocket launcher's in the game...railgun is unlikely...chaingun variant is pretty much a certainty.
...
The bestiary of creatures also pulls from both Doom and Doom II. The Imp, Commando, "Pinky" Demon, Revenant, Arch-Vile, Mancubus, and Lost Souls are all present...initial sketches for a reinvented Baron of Hell, Cyberdemon, and Anachratron were hidden away...Hell Knights...Zombies...
...
...your very own, very handy PDA. This new gadget consists of an automap, inventory, and communications device.
...
The research facility needs a sign, and you may spot one urging "Walk, Don't Run." Given the circumstances, running should be actively encouraged, but not for you. Your pace is slow; walking pace. No defaulting to run, since you'll burn out your stamina and then end up panting and wheezing while demons, zombies, and any passing snails take swipes at your gasping carcass.
...
...firing the shotgun at a zombie from any kind of distance has to be heard up close to be fully appreciated. While some pellets give a dull thud as they penetrate the sickeningly grey flesh, others ping loudly off the floor, the walls, the railings, and the ceiling. Each resonates with its own depth. Sure, you just fired a shotgun shell at a zombie in a Doom game - and you might think you've done it before. But not like this you haven't.
There are only 10 types of people that understand binary.....

It's basically going to be a remake of the original, not a sequal."It's a retelling of the original Doom," explains Tim Willits, lead designer on Doom III. "It's like the first game never happened."

DANGIT
If i could only find that link to the movie i have right now! its a "aherm" illegal video recording.... "aherm"..... of IN GAME SMOOOOOTH footage of the alpha... all in game...
the cut scenese (from what i've seen) look so real i pissed my pants!
I'm sure Doom III will forever be remembered in our future (if they do what they say there going to do on the game)
I have a neat idea for the graphics in the game It would be so cool!
When theres a large explosion, have it so you can see bits of your face reflected off the glass (or... plastic?) of your visor! wouldn't that be sweet!
But the lighting effects are.. OUT OF THIS WORLD! i mean.. they look so real you could just reach out and touch em!
YOU HAVE GOT TO SEE THIS VIDEO!!! if u want it bad just email me
jphoran@new.rr.com
And i'll.. try to send it :-P i think its like 75 mb... i forgot the link.. sorry GZ"I see" said the blind man
