Anyone played Simcity 4 yet??
I've been a long time fan of SimCity... the game was truely revolutionary... however, I read a long time ago that Will Wright (founder of Maxis, creator of SimCity) had no part in its development, so I wasn't really looking forward to it. So I'm wondering whether its worth the $50 (since there are a whole lotta other games I really wanna try out now).
The reviews really have mixed emotions, so I would love to hear opinions from a SimCity freak.P@yce,

I enjoyed the first SimCity also. Ever since then I think they have added to many options. It seems there are too many options when piecing together your city now. You spend more time in drop down menus than you do in actual gameplay it seems these days. PC versions especially. Maybe the PS2 version would be good. I bet there is a Demo floating around for SimCity 4 you could try out before purchasing it.

I was a huge fan of SC and SC2K. I mean I left the SC2K on for nights sometimes just to get money to build another arco...
I then decided to buy SC3K one day and give it a shot
SC2K was so much more fun, but some things were just annoying. In SC2K, the fastest setting caused time to move much faster, and a couple things in SC3K are just annoying.
Verdicts still out on SC4, since I didnt buy it yet, but I dont think I'm touching it yet because it could potentially be as worse than SC3K...not til they crank it down to around $30 or less.

i think i have the record for most sc2k hours logged. my whole freshman highschool year was devoted to it. sc2k was amazing. and i agree with you auraedge, sc3k had annoying things. i loved the landmark idea though. and being able to go online and get more. but your board people where jsut stupid and inconsistent. and they would say opposite things within 5 minutes of eachother without me doing anything. there also where no new objectives...AND THEY TOOK OUT ARCOS!!!!! that was the big thing in 2k. i spent all my effort and money in FILLING my map with ARCOS so i could be the most populous city out of the 5 neighbors. I am exited about 4 though. another game i can go on and on about is the civ series. civ2 imparticularly

I enjoy SimCity 4. The graphics have improved as well as the detail. The amount of information you can get has also increased. An example is being able to move a sim in to your city and follow their daily lives.
I like SimCity 4 over 2k3, but i am not a die-hard SimCity fan. I enjoy the challenge and game play. It is fun as well as time consuming, but it is fun to watch all the activity that goes on.

Not worth the 50$. SC4 has nicer graphics and stuff but the game play in 3 is better.

I'm going to wait until the whole series concludes, goes to DVD, then Blu-Ray, then Amazon digital download, then bootlegged in China, then recalled, then the extended director's edition debuts, then...
