    C&C Generals Network Woes

Please can someone help me, I have started a LAN Game, via Direct Connect, so My m8 can play over the Internet aganist me. This works fine, but when I get my brother to join(who is on my LAN) He cannot not direct connect If he uses the LAN IP 192.168.0.2, it times out? If he selects my Online IP He can get connected but then it hangs on when loading the map and all the players etc!
I have updated to the 1.3 version

If I try Direct Connect with him. (both on LAN) it plays just fine. If I have someone else wants to play via my Internet connection As well My Brothers PC Hangs on the Loading the players and maps.

    Can anyone help?

Why would it timeout on the Direct Connect part when using the Local Ip to connect to me?

Is there an Alternative mehod that I could use to start a mutliplayer game so both My bro can join from the LAN side of things, and my m8 can join via the Net? eg, a console command? If there is one?

    Any info greatly recieved.

The IP address 192.168.0.2 can not be used as the Internet IP address to connect to. That IP address is a non-routable address.

For use on a small LAN, C& C Generals should without even using the Direct Connection button. You should be able to create a game and then it should show up on the other LAN computer when browsing for network multiplayer games.

But he wants a person from the lan and from the internet to be able to connect to the same game.

I would think that the person in the lan uses the same internet address than the person having the server, and it has serious trouble letting two users from the same ip enter the game.

Does the other person in the lan have his own internet address?

    Hi,
Thanks for all the replys, The other PC on the Lan, uses the main Pc(mine) as its gateway to the net, so effectively it using my IP.

All I need to do is get it allow one comnnection from a LAN and one from the Net.

Thanks, any other info greatly recieved

I'm pretty sure it will never work. The other computer can't communicate with your computers internet address with the same address.

Ahh, not what I was visualizing initially. Then unless C&C Generals can support multi-homed game hosts this will not work. I would guess it can't since it is rarely used done by consumers.
