Are PC games going to be a thing of the past soon. I have noticed when going into any computer store that thier selection has gone down quite a bit. I guess consol games are taking over now. I sure hate to see that happen. But, then I understand why it is,so I'm not surprized really. Just sadden. |

Selection go down or does it just look that way because the boxes are smaller? |

I think it's the opposite. PC's have so much more power and stuff in general than consoles. Think of how many advantages over consoles PC's have. |

No it's not the size of the boxes. It reminds me of when Compact Disk took over for LP's. One day you go into a record store and all the LP's are in one bin. Just an observation.I personally love games for PC's. Hope they don't quit making them. |

It's quite hard to find older PC games.
When the price drops though it's a good thing.
When Pool of Radiance : Myth Drannor was released in 2001 I wanted it but it was $75 canadian. I then forgot about it but saw it 2 weeks ago at $20 canadian again, so I brought it back home.
I don't know about the console games section since I don't check them, here the PC games selection is still quite big. |

Mainly it's because people with computers buy their games online. People with consoles usually don't do this, and some propably dont know (or choose not to know) how to use a computer anyway (not bashing anyone, just some experience). PC Games are in a slow market now, since console development is in high gear. Hapened during the 32/64 bit age. Just wait until the development starts to slump a bit...then the computer market really picks up again. The 'golden age' of the console is usually a constant of 1 or 2 years, with the PC's golden age being 2 or 3 years because of upgradability of PCs. Computer games are not going away though. It's just a slow time. |

Blizzard - They are starting to slump a bit, but they are still the most talented group I have seen yet.
Interplay - Barely hanging on by a thread. Don't put too much stock in them. And the developers have begun to revolt (aka Bioware and Prallax/Outrage/Volition)
EA - Going strong but alienating customers of PC Gmaes now.
Sierra - Doing well.
Ubisoft - Doing REALLY well.
Microsoft - Actually, thier division is doing great now that they have some key developers under their belts.
One of the biggest problems I see with the gaming biz right now is piracy. I wish people would stop pirating games, especially if they can afford them. Buying good games let's the developer know it's being purchased, and so to keep making such games. I know games are expensive right now, but that doens't mean you should pirate them to show defiance. Just write the company that games are expensive, and that you would buy them gladly if it were cheaper to do so. |

I don't think that they will go away, but if they do I am going on a hunger strike

| I totally agree about buying games online. Just Monday night, my math teacher just bot a PS2, and bought GTA:Vice City from Toys R Us. I on the other hand, just the other week bought 2 games online, from gogamer.com and I order online It all really depends on the buyer too, those who like to see what B&M's have and etc. I like B&M stores, but they don't go on sale!! I know it can go on sale to like $35... but they don't at B&M's anymore the 'sale' is at 40 so I wait till gogamer.com has it in the 48 hour madness did that with Splinter Cell and Morrowind, got both games for $50 shipped (both on separate days) can't be any happier . Also, for console game owners, gogamer.com has 48 hour maddness on those games too, but it's not as big of a variety. (BTW, I am not affiliated with them at all, just love their service + prices) |
