I wouldn't say I'm "hyped" about it. But it looks very cool. I remember playing the original to death on my 486.

Ok, I'm testing the game right now and I gotta say it looks promising. The game is not ur standard button masher... no long combos to remember or anything. Most moves are 3 buttons and super moves are 4(like up,up,LowPunch+highPunch) but there is plenty of skill involved. Then there are weapons that are pretty sw33t.
I've already preordered my copy, the game needs polishing but I'm sure it will be before it is released (September). A Multiplayer demo should be out soon !

yeah, true that.... I really think a good solid traditional multiplayer 2-D fighter for the PC would do good

    I'm hyped and waiting.

This will breathe a new genre of sweet games onto the PC.

Also Mechwarrior 5 is a mythical being of unimaginable proportions ( dont expect it for another 3 years ).

And if you want a 2d fighter go get mame32k and play Marvel vs Capcom and stuff online =D

I just wanted to update you guys on how the game is turning out.
There are a couple of quirks.First off, the actual movement of your robot is very, for lack of a better word, 'Stiff'. Although, I really don't know how to solve this as it is a 'completely free' 3D fighter. Its not like tekken where you generally have a fixed camera position and are always in view of your opponent. The camera in this game is sorta like a 3rd person camera (a good game to describe the camera is tomb raider), so you are free to turn away from your opponent.
Secondly, the move list, while pretty huge, doesn't translate well into this 3D world. You've got 2 punches, 2 kicks, one jump, and one evade (sorta allows you to 'roll away'). This is where the problem lies... since this is a 'true 3D' fighter, you get rather annoyed when these kicks or punches don't connect as they generally have a very short range.
Then you've got about 4 regular moves (like fireballs or short combo attacks), now these moves are going to be done most of the time as they provide almost unpenetratable attacks, which gets sorta repetitive after some time..
and you've got about 4 super moves. The moves are not terribly complex, very simple to pull off, but again it sort of ticks you off when you don't connect as you have to wait for your 'energy bar' to refill to pull them off....
Then there are some counter and block moves as well.
Maybe, once you become seasoned with the game these quirks will disappear or you become accustomed to them... but lemme tell you this, the game is like nothing you ever played before(that doesn't mean its a good thing, doesn't mean its bad either) .... It will be rather interesting to see how this game is received.... as for me, I might be growing a BIT wary of the gameplay, but it is quite fun especially when you got a couple of people multiplaying...
