americas army problem...

i was previously running version 1.6 with no problems. i downloaded 1.7 last night, the full game, not the patch. i uninstalled v1.6 and then proceded to install v1.7. the winxip unzipper comes up and takes forever to unzip all the files and when it gets done, a message comes up asking me to install aim expressions!? i figure, well they must have included it with the install, so i hit "no". nothing. americas army is not installed and the files that were unzipped are gone. so i try again, this time i say "yes, install your dumb aim crap". aim expressions installs fine. AA is still gone. nothing. i think "must be a problem with the setup file". so i uninstall aim expressions. then i decide to reinstall v1.6, which has previously worked fine. it takes forever unzipping, then when it gets done, "wanna install stupid aim expressions?" i scream. i hit no. nothing. AA is not installed or to be found anywhere. i searched my whole c:\ partition and d:\ partition. i try again and hit yes. nothing. no AA. note that the v1.6 file is known to have worked before. wtf is going on!!?? please help me!

clear your temp directory and reunzip..

as in the c:\windows\temp directory?

i will try but i think it is empty already.

EDIT: yup. completely empty. no luck

fixed it. instead of using the self extractor that the file comes as, i opened it in winrar and then extracted it. i should have thought of that earlier. but thanks for the help thronka!
