Anyone have some good recomendations for multiplayer games? Hosting a LAN party friday night, got some money, and we're getting a little bored of UT2003 and C&C Generals.
We've tried BF1942...none of us liked it at all.Asus A7N8X Deluxe | AMD AthlonXP 2600+ | 512mb Corsair XMS Extreme DDR

matrix is overrated i think...........i bought it and loved it....its alot of fun dont get me wrong....but its over priced...............$50 ive finished it with both characters and 2 difficulty levels in the 2 weeks ive had it......................kinda dissappointing.........just not as hard as i thought it would be............as far as something id buy right now...........
ANYTHING YOU CAN LAN MULTI-PLAY IN!!!!

hey Telexen break out some old school DOOM its a little tricky to set up in multiplay but its fun.....i think you can only play with 4 at a time so youd have to do it kinda tourney style

I've been playing Splinter Cell and Vietcong over the past couple of days, and can highly recommend both games....
Splinter Cell is ideal for anyone who enjoys Metal Gear Solid type stealth games
and Vietcong is for the guns and ammo fans among you.... like when you're running round the jungle, and run out of ammo, throw your weapon away, find a dead enemy, take his gun and ammo, then just carry on the carnage!

Any problems with vietcong? It looked so tasty but I heard there were issues with graphics and AI. Of course, EVERY game has issues with graphics and AI so I didn't know if these reports were overexaggerated...

I'm running Vietcong on XP2600, 1gig of PC2700, and Radeon 9500...... and found no gfx problems with my system.
AI seems to be as good, if not better than most games I've played so far - the enemy runs for cover and/or snipe at you whenever you start shooting... and you gotta be careful not to stay in one place for too long, cos they'll also try to surround and flank your position!
VC is one great game IMO !

June 6th, 2003, 02:42 PM #53On "normal" to "high" settings, I get about 30-70 fps when actually playing, depending on how much action is on the screen.... then during those rare quiet moments in the game it can go up to 120+Originally posted by ArcticFox

Well, my PC came with a "Rage Pro Turbo AGP 2x" soldered onto the mobo, so maybe this makes you feel better. Hey while I'm on the subject, how much of a framerate boost should I get if I upgrade from a GeForce2 MX 400 PCI to a GeForce4 MX PCI? Although the idiots at XFX/Pine Tech decided that they would lower my card's rendering power by an entire pie slice when they made it into a half-height card (without telling me), and the so-called fact that all nVidia cards are the same speed, I have dis-proved this theory by slapping in my freind's reference-design VisionTek GF2 MX 400 PCI and watching my FPS go BOOM. Much faster, I can get a solid 60 FPS+ in CS with it installed, while my card stutters and jerks in certain places.
