Sims Superstar installation
When I try to istall The Sims Superstar expansion pack, I get the following error:
Component Transfer Error
Component: ExpansionPack6
File Group: ExpansionPack6
File: D:\setup\Data4.cab
Error: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)
What is odd, is that I took the same exact cd and istalled it on another pc without any problems. This leads me to beleive it is not a physically defective cd.
The pc producing the error is running XP Home with SP1 and exceeded the minimum system game requirements.
Thanks

If you have The Sims Deluxe version, you need to uninstall it first , according to the manual, before installing add-ons, as yoiu might get weird errors.
I dunno how this is supposed to work, but check the manual if you have Sims Deluxe version.
Cheers

I don't think it is that. I have the plain version of the Sims. I have treid doing a fresh install to no avail.

I was going to suggest a clean install starting with the Sims, then Superstar, but I see you already tried that. My wife had a problem with the game crashing, so we did a reinstall of the Sims in this order: Sims, Livin' Large, Hot Date, Vacation, Unleashed, then Superstar with all available patches. It was a pain but it works fine now.
You should try copying the contents of the CD to a folder on your HDD and try the install from there.

Where did you find the patches? I wasn't aware there were any.

Go to the official Sims website and click on "Get Cool Stuff". You will be able to get the patches there.

Thanks for the link. After reading some more, it seems that not all PS3's cooling fan work correctly. Some never spin up fast, which causes the overheating issue. Luckily, my PS3 gets very loud...
