Try setting framerate caps. The readme or manual should tell you how. Set it to about 30 or so, and see if it makes a difference.

try third person games and find out if it's just the motion or the perspective

You can buy dramamine from the store, dont' think its terribly expensive... its non-prescription so wouldn't be a big hassle.

I think a certian Spooky TIMO member is feeling that way after playing Enter the Matrix.
If I play a game long enough in the dark and have had something to eat, then I will start to feel a bit odd.
Never really felt sick though. (Only from Enter the Matrix)

Guess it could be my age? My dad gets motion sickness from playing some games for a long time as well.

*UPDATE* This spooky member feels the way he does because he lacks a proper diet.
Curry, beer, bangers and mash isn't a healthy diet for a gamer. (Not in that order either)

Quake 3 does me in. I don't play games very often, but I've noticed that, if I start playing for a short time and gradually increase playtime, over say a week, I don't get nausous anymore. I think the brain has to adjust for the increased information it is having to process, just a guess.

Only one game made me sick : Shadow Warrior. It used the Duke3d engine, but it was too fast and made me dizzy.

Haven't experienced it in any other game.

the same thing happened to my mother when she would walk into the room, sometimes it would set off her epilepsy, and so pretty much i quit playing console games when she was around because i didn't want to hinder my moms movement.

turns out that the framerate of the gameplay on the TV appears as vicious flickering because they would use the "black filler" frame every [im guessing 24th]

when i started playing games, i turned up the refresh rate to something above 75 and then she could walk freely. it seems to not affect her when i play anymore because i turned it up.

what might be happening to you is just plain old motion sickness, perhaps putting on vertical sync like some other have suggested would help you out. but thats too bad that you can't enjoy FPS games.

I bet dramamine would help mild cases of the video game "motion" sickness but I would try game and monitor settings first of course. Knock that refresh rate up to 75Hz or 85Hz if your monitor supports it.

I don't think it's a frame rate thing. I got ill today watching a video of an FPS game.

I'm not that into games that I'd take Dramamine or any other drug to play. I just thought maybe someone had heard of a reason why someone like me, who is otherwise unaffected by motion, would get sick from a game where there is no physical motion.

In any case, glad I'm not the only one and I'm sorry for others who have the same problem. In the grand scheme of things I guess it could be worse. I can avoid FPS games and feel fine. Piece-o'-cake.
