... and waiting.... and waiting... and waiting....Helicopters don't fly; they vibrate so much and make so much noise that the earth rejects them.

I still havent heard an official fall back(valve has been tightlipped), so I'm still looking at september 30th. I have a feeling it may be closer to Christmas, but i got faith in Vavle.
Good job, friend-of-friends!

No a while back at Clanimo when I was an advit news reporter for the site, I saw an article on the new release date. If I remember it is the same week Call of Duty comes out. I'll look that up later to make sure. But it is November if I remember....Halo is Sept. 30th

I think it will be in February or March.

September 24th, 2003, 01:47 PM #9That wont happen. Why? It is not logical. Not everyone will have 100 bucks to shuck out for both games, which means they can only choose one. So some people that might buy HL2 wont because they want D3 more. If vavle releases before D3, even D3 fanatics will buy it to give them something to pass the time with.Originally posted by MatrixmaN

November. They are beta-testing the new Steam network in HL/CS/TFC right now, replacing WON and the ID's we used to have. They want more control on updates and patches for registered users, removing the manual download process. It's interesting they mention a "billing feature". If they go subscriber-based like Evercrack I'm outta here.
More info can be found at steampowered.com.

ale_x13, there was an Alpha version of DOOM III that leaked out to the internet about 6 months ago. You might still be able to find it if you want it.
As for HL2, i am not worried about the release date. For one, i dont have the rig to run it right now and two, i like to wait a bit after new games come out so that i dont have to go through the frustration of dealing with alot of bugs. I wait till they have put out an update or two to fix bugs, then i buy.

Here you all go....got it in my e-mail from IGN today.
In a not-so-surprising move, Valve Software has officially, positively confirmed that Half-Life 2 will *gasp* be delayed.
Doug Lombardi, Valve Software's director of marketing, confirmed with us today that Valve has decided to delay Half-Life 2 from it's original slated September 30th release. The official word is that Valve Software is "targeting a holiday release," the same timeframe previously stated by publisher Vivendi. No specific in-store release date has been announced at this point.
While we're a bit sad that we won't be playing Half-Life 2 next week, we here at IGN actually applaud the delay announcement. If Half-Life 2 truly isn't ready for release, then so be it. We would rather play a well-tested, perfected game than a buggy sequel to a title we hold in high esteem.
You can now cry for those who want the game

I think Vivendi is applying same policy as they applied with Blizzard.... delay delay delay... but well we know Blizzard is normal and they give in the end a very good game.
I hope they get a good game.... and not only hype... so valve make it good!!!!

GamersHell are reporting today that Half Life 2 has gone gold and will still ship on the 30th, but many other sites are saying this could possibly be fake.

What really blows about a holiday release though, is then not only are you competing against the rest of the gamers to get your hands on the game... NOW you have to also compete with the parents buying games for their kids. While many would still be buying this will still increase the numbers by a bit.

The billing feature isnt for a monthy fee. You'll actually be able to purchase games through steam instead of going to the store and buying a box.

I saw that too. Originally it said Oct. 30th, then November 15th, now December 1st.
I'm holding onto the idea that this is all just a bad joke to make us think the date has been pushed back so they can suprise us all on Oct. 30th.
Then again I believed in Santa Claus until I was 23.
