Battlefield 1942 Problems

I can not install the 1.45 patch - it says "Setup couldn't find an Battlefield 1942 installation"

This is uderstandable as I never actualy installed the game, but copied the files from another computer. Does anyone know what setup is looking for and if there is a way around this?

Why isn't the game actually installed the proper way?

Because I dont know anyone with a copy of the disk, just someone with the game on there computer.

did you even buy the game?

sounds like you didn't, if you copied it from a friend.

may i suggest buying it? If you did buy it why dont you install it from the cd and it should work fine
