Far Cry
http://www.farcry-thegame.com/
The demo has now been out for almost 2 weeks, if you haven't checked this out yet you are missing out. You will need a pretty beasty PC to run this one - but it looks amazing, the play distance is OMG!!!
But this is definatly one of those games that will represent the new look in games to come, the sort of game that hardware developers will be making hardware for, rather than the other way round as it used to be.
I managed to run the game sweet as will all settings on high, 1024x768, 5.1 sound with:
2600XP
GF Ti4200 64mb 300/600
512MB
GTXP 5.1
attached is a weird thing I came across when wandering

Yeah. The game LOOKS good...
But if you try the demo, I think you'll be dissapointed. It lacks a lot of deapth or fun.

I agree w/ lindstrom. The game is fun for the first time around then after that its really par for the course. The rag dollin is funny to see w/ the rocket launcher but that lasts for so long. It looks real pretty though but in the end its a par FPS.

After completing the demo mission, I just liked to snipe all the bots, and then explore the island. Discovered a secluded beach, a wild pig, a downed Zero, and a copy of Redneck Today!
Very amusing. And I agree with Vert, this is the kind of game that can push hardware to its limits. I had the opportunity to play this on my GF4 Ti4600 (recently deceased), and my 9800 Pro (newly installed). The latter made for much smoother and more dramatic environment and effects.

My 9800 o/c to 450mhz is loving this game.
I on the other hand, don't think the demo was all fantastic. I was awed by the graphics, but found myself exploring, and having fun with NPC and such, rather than trying to beat the level. This could be good or bad.
The good thing is, Total Conversions and mods came always be made, and this is just one level.Abit AW9D-Max | E6300 | XP-120 | Panaflow 120mm | 2x 1GB G.Skill DDR2-800 | BFG 8800GT | Corsair 650w

well the mx440 can handle it. at medium settings and 1024x786... to tell you the truth i was quite suprised it did that well.... seems to be a fun, but hard game..

Welcome to the JUNGLE !
FarCry is set to be released in March '04 which is a good thing being as the gaming community is pretty drab right now, unless your into WWII ...
Plenty of jungle action there but to make things even more tasty, BattleField Vietnam will also be released in March !
So we go from old @$$ weapons and vehicals to lush forests , Charlies, and expierimental goolies in one month !!
WHO NEEDS DOOM III AND HL 2 !!! ???
well, ok... i still do ...

Oh yes, there are actually 2 pigs and I did find the zero, just thought it was a plane though.
Did you find the floating table?
