removing hidden files without dos

Well, assuming that you still have Windows on that box... you can just start up Win and press F8 right away. This will get you into the boot mode list, where you can just choose to boot up in DOS. Of course, I think this is only on 98SE and older, but of course you would know if you still have DOS or not.
