The bottle neck

Hello,

My question is if you have a older motherboard and cpu and a brand new 256mb video card are you really useing the video card to its max? Is there such thing as bottle necking a video card and how can you avoid this.


I am thinking about getting the new asus p2c800-e deluxe with a 2.8c ghz 800fsb CPU then overclock it with the motherboards options to 30% and put my geforce 5500 256mb video card in it. do you think it will work better?

yes, your CPU performance is also a factor in gameplay and not just video card performance....also, it depends on how old of a board you are talking about....ofcourse the video card will work better on that new setup your talking about, but on the "older" setup, it all depends exactly how old, list your specs and either me or someone else will let you know
