    Bringing over the toolbar.

I do a lot of new computer setups at work, sometimes they are getting new Computers sometimes they are getting recycled computers. I get a lot of complaints about the fact that when they get a new computer they have to spend "Hours" (yeah right) setting up all their toolbars again. Anyway, one of the employees here said she had an IT friend who said that you can bring tool bar settings from one puter to another, but she won't tell her how, (she says she won't give up her secret. I thought we were IT not magicians ) anyway, I hope she's right cause then I've just learned something new. So, is she right? Can you export toolbar settings? Or is it a registry thing?

    thanks

    OK, try the following

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Ex cel\Options\CmdBarData (REG_BINARY)

    for Excel,

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Wo rd\Data\Toolbars (REG_BINARY)

    for Word,

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{########-####-####-####-############}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0\Saved Toolbar Settings

    for Outlook Express

I'm not sure about other apps, probably cos I havent customized them so it doesnt show up in the registry

In fact, if you can guarantee that application paths will be the same you can often (given the same version of Office) import the whole tree from HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0 and have the whole bunch of user settings carried over, and similarly for Outlook Express.

Stranger, you sorta beat me to it, if this site would take dang replies. Note: on stranger's above reg keys, you'd need to export them & save them on a floppy or something, then merge them back on the other box. Like he sez, they might need paths modified appropriately.
