Unhappy IBM A21E Users (Help Needed Inside!)

I got a laptop from a friend today.

    IBM A21E

    600 MHZ Celeron

    No Memory (256 MB Max)

No Hard Disk (10 gig originally)

    No cdrom

    no power cord (dead battery)

does anyone have one? I need highly detailed close up pictures of what the system looks like with all it's parts installed. Hopefully you are brave enough to remove the cd drive, hard disk etc, so I can get a better idea of what they look like.

if you are still here, and haven't clicked off in terror (at thought of yanking your hard disk for pictures) then I need your help

hopefully I can be steered somewhere also that has good prices on what I need to make it work.

well i was hoping it was 1 i had a manuall for handy, but its not so i will hafta do a little diging. heres what i know so far though. requires PC 100 SODIMM. largest support per slot is 128. (the way its worded it makes me think there is 2 slots so u could hav a max of 256 mb ram) also it looks like u could upgrade the cpu in it as it is MMC-2 standard and i believe it supports speed step. i hav a manual for a 2628 series laptop but its the pentium 2 version so it doesnt hav yur extension listed in here right off hand... as far as the hard drive goes i believe 32 gig is the max and any rotational speed should b fine. it had a 4500 rpm drive standard but since u hafta get a new one i would highly recomend a 5400rpm drive. 7200rpm laptop drives r horribly expensive. it also takes the thinner (9mm) drive height not the thicker (14mm) drive height drives. again i am reasonably sure but withought having a manual 4 it specifically or being able to look at it phisically i cant b 100%. also i could maybe post sum of the disasembly procedure pics in my gallery on here or email them to u and u can c if it is like the laptop u hav so u know where the ram, hd, and stuff go.

u might hav just as good a luck searching ebay for that model laptop and seeing what everyone on there says is compatible with it....

the hard disk and everything just slides into the bays, and then you secure it down and go.

yup, i just use www.pricegrabber.com when im ordering anything for my personel laptop. u might even try like a yahoo search to find out more info because a lot of thinkpads will actually support more (like say 2 256mb sticks of ram) then what ibm puts in there specs.
