is the "system bus" speed the same as the front side bus? |

It can be, depends on the chipset, but generally yes.

Athlon 64 has that whole hypertransport thing to communicate with the memory (which i believe is generally called the system bus?), i dont know how that all works, but the fsb is probably still 200...?...cuz its athlon 64

shows two chip sets
chip set one is via techs and its at 178mhz
chipset 2 is amd and its 2 x 356 = 712 mhz |

As GMK mentioned, the Athlon 64 has subdivided its buses, one for the chipset and apparently another for the memory. Chipset 2 is most likely using double pumping to tranfer 2 bits on each clock cycle. I'll see if I can get the diagram from AMD's website.

the main board option tells me that the via chipset is going at 402 mhz and they all say front side bus |
