| Which anti virus software would you recommend?
I need you guys opinions on a program thats resource efficient and somewhat good virus detection...
I'm currently using McAfee, its not very recourse efficient, and for the last month or two, my weekly scans didn't pick up anything at all, maybe good maybe bad... I may or may not stick with it.
Heres a pic of task manager, as you can see, a LOT of Mcafee related stuff is on there and I'm not even sure if they are even neccessary...
Thanks |

I'll third AVG. Free and effective. Updates often too, which can't be a bad thing. |

AVG seems to eat the fewest resources, is fast as a greased sumpin' er udder, and also catches things that get past some of the other AV programs. I currently have Norton installed but will switch to AVG when the current subscription expires.
Avast is okay but puts a lot more drain on the system.
You can get a freebie AV (for a year) from http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/ . I have that one one on my wife's PC (only installed the AV part) and it seems to be doing a good job so far.
Equally important, IMO, is that you get a good spyware protection and removal program such as Spybot - Search & Destroy. Install it, keep it updated, and run it on some routine.
Google toolbar has a nice popup blocker than seems to work most of the time - another freebie.
