was the other system running xp pro and service pack 1 installed the last time the creative burner worked properly on it? or was it still running 98?

I think it's a firmware issue...the software loaded onto the device itself. it's configured to run with specific software of a certain type. I know that Lite-On drives are designed to burn with Nero...it's a firmware configuration.

I'd try using the software that came with the cd, should that fail, I'd surf on over to the manufacturer's website for some help...

Welcome to TechIMO!sorry it took 2 years for you to find TechIMO! hope you stick around for a while...

I was having trouble reading the cd's I copied I could burn them but the computer would not read them. I guess my cd writer was broke or outdated. I have had it for some time. Replaced it with the same brand but more powerful and it works fine. I run xp also.
