Lightbulb Go for Phone Camera or a proper Digital Camera?

    Hi, once again.

Now, I've never thought getting these phone cameras, thinking that I don't actually need it. Its just a 'wanting', not a 'needing'.

    Question:

So, which do you think that one should go and get- The Phone with Camera or a proper Digital Camera?

And I would also like to know, what brand is good.

Do you need a phone? If you don't need a phone, I don't see why you would spend more money or another one just to get the camera incoporated. If you are looking to take somewhat serious photographs, a digital camera would be the way to go.

ya quality from phones are bad but if you dont want to carry around a phone and a camera for those quick shots then i would go with a phone and a camer (I have a cell phone and a Fugi F700 that i carry mosly eveywhere - its small but very powerful )

Remember, some stores in Japan are banning the use of a camera phone in the store. I can't remember what cities/prefectures that the ban has taken place in, but it's always food for thought. I voted digital camera.

digital camera definately! they take much better qual photos and can hold tonnes more than a phone could. plus the phone cameras take small dodgy qual images. only good if you want to take a quick shot here and there, and even then not that good i have both by the way, but voted digi cam

For serious users, I think they should go for a proper Digital Camera and a proper cellphone.

I think that digital camera manufacturers has spent many years (perhaps) in making a good camera and focusing on one thing. Unlike a phone camera, I think it is built for fun, especially for teenagers who wants to try new stuff. When they get these stuff, it feels more like their heading for the future.

If you actualy want to take pictures of something for more than a few laughs on a small LCD screen then get a real digital camera. Most camera phones have a maximum resolution of 640x480 (1/3 of a megapixel). They look ok on the cell phone itself, but the picture quality itself is crap. They are merely convenient. Catch some good laughs candid camera style at parties and stuff as well.

So in reality... b/c the pratical uses are so far apart its really hard to even compare to two.

I agree that the LG Vx6000 is a nice camera phone, however I'm not really sure consumer reports does much justice with that article though. After their respective rebates, its only 10 dollars more to get the VX6000 phone than it is to get the VX 4500, which is essentially the same model minus the camera. Kind of one of those rediculous to pass up upgrades

Mike hit it on the nail head. Many places will ban the use or even the posession of them. If you happen to go into courthouses a lot or somesuch, you can't bring camera into the building.

Just got a camera phone but have a digital camera. We use the phone for quick pics to email to grandma. It's easy and you can do it right away instead of having to wait to download at home. Other than that, it's not worth much. Most photos really worth taking and saving we take with the digital.

Yeah I know its all fast in taking pictures with the phone camera. Taking pictures of nice girls on your way back from work/school. At the end of the day, you'll look back at all the pics you taken the whole day long.

Which is good actually. I agree from some comments saying getting a phone camera, saves your pocket space. So you don't have to bring your cellphone and a digital camera along. Having these two electronic hardware adds more weight as well. Its all in one. Now they're going to fit in with a video camera phone. Very good technology has pros and cons as well.
