I also use ad-aware and spyblaster, love the free downloads, they work fine for my computer. I use AVG and spybot search and destroy also. Keeps computer working smooth and the computer dosent slow down any more. I also have to remember to defragment, I am surprised how many people don't know about defragmenting. |

I use all these programs to get rid of and prevent all the malicious content from my computer:
~ Ad-Aware 6.0
~ Spybot - S&D
~ SpywareBlaster
~ Spy Sweeper
~ Pest Patrol
They work great, and I havent had any spyware in the late months to struggle with.

cwshredder is good also if you have any variant of the "coolwebsearch" trojan.....I ran adaware the other day and it doesnt get rid of these trojans evidently....
Mita...dunno about that one..thats weird, lol
could this have anything to do with it-->
"Why is CWShredder closing suddenly when I run it?
The latest variant of CWS, CWS.Smartsearch.2, is attempting to close CWShredder, HijackThis, Spybot S&D, Ad-aware and a handful of online help forums when you try to open them. To counter this, CWShredder has been updated. Start it again when it suddenly closes and it should work. If it still doesn't work, download PepiMK's CoolWWWSearch.Smartsearch killer and run that first, then use CWShredder to clean up."

Hey Dan, which one helps in preventing spyware? In the process of building a new comp and want to protect it as much as possible without having to get norton and such. |

well i'll give everyone a warning about a new spyware/trojan going around. I got this yesterday, if you use AIM and you see someone with an away message that says something like "New pr0FILE click here" and it'll give you a link to an angelfire page with a profile.scr attached to it. I being stupid clicked on it and holy crap was it a mess. Literally had to start in safe mode, search for the file "NETSTATT" and delete every instance. Then load back into windows and run ad-aware, norton, and hijack this, regcleaner to remove all of the problems. It was hairy and I have yet to try and get it off of my girlfriend's computer, who i got it off of on the first place.
Just a heads up! |
