Anti- spy ware
I like spybot- Search and destroy, new Adware SE(free Ed.) (Lavasoft), spywareblaster, they do checking and a couple of them put protections in place.

Although ad-aware claims that they remove everything. It in fact misses on alot of items and it's not my recommended program. Same goes with Spybot S&D, buggy program does an ok job and finding some stuff but also misses greatly on many spyware items.
If you don't believe me here is a site that compares them: http://www.adwarereport.com/mt/archives/000004.html
and one more
http://www.anti-spyware-review.topte...OVMTC=standard
Now just because a website compares them does it make it all true, no, but it does let many of you know where they stand based on the comparisons on how good each of those programs are. Most of the comparisons are not only based only how they worked and how effective they are but also on several other factors.

Totally clean
I've found a site that does wonders: Totally Clean! The techs here are phenominal. The site is:
http://forum.gladiator-antivirus.com
They have all the appropriate downloads and after reading your log will steer you to any other required downloads. My system has never been faster and I was doing all the above mentioned stuff beforehand.
Go to "Help I've been infected!" Read first time users summary.
Good luck!

Does spyware come from Microsoft? I heard that they planted a robot named alexa in windows that sends all your personal information to Bill Gates...

I've used adaware for a while with good results... I have also used spysweeper but prefer adaware...
It has been a while since I really compared features though.. but then again I don't have a lot of problems with spyware myself.. I just don't try to "punch the monkey"

Believe it or not, Microsoft has an excellent new spyware tool in Beta. I find that it works as good or better than others:

It works as a preventative as well.MCSE, MCP and nut job

It depends what you mean by "tweaks". You can adjust many things.
It is Beta, so don't expect too much.MCSE, MCP and nut job

Are there any programs out there that can get rid of spyware on a MACINTOSH?
I don't even know if it is an issue with Macs or not, but my IE runs incredibly slow.
I'm using a G4 Tower with IE 5.1 on a broadband connection at work. It's so slow at times, it just becomes unbearable. I'm not sure if it would be because Spyware or what....
Anyone know of any FREE programs I can use for Mac? (OS 9.2 BTW)
