free home personal spyware protector
The best in my opinion is Ad Aware. You can download a free edition from Lava soft. Just Google it. I use that plus Microsoft Defender (Beta 2) which is also free for the time being. Both are excellent.

Please note that these are effective tools but will not stop everything out there.
The familiarity with several utilities as well as how to manually track down and see
infected files removed if not overwritten in some cases is one strong advice. There
is no one utility that gets everything especially since new ones are always a step
away from being circulated. A tryout on one XP Home system of Microsoft's latest
"Live OneCare" beta was swiftly scrubbed when it caused issues. That is found at:

being tried here with issues seen with Windows Explorer! Upon opening the Win
browser a blank web page will swiftly open along with it. The task bar contains a
smaller set of icons to replace the original larger buttons on IE 6.0.

Panda found like 200 spywares and a couple of hacking tools. Adaware only found 15, mostly in the IE cashe.
But I'm too cheap to buy Panda!Obama: The rich have the Federal Reserve and the poor have Harry Reid... LOL. Life really is unfair!

Some important steps to make your computer virus, ,malwares and spywares free :
1. Try to delete all the temporary internet files from your computer.
2. Try to uninstall the unwanted programs installed on your computer.
3. Try to perform the "defrag" and "diskcleanup" utility over the specific time.
4. Try to remove all the temporary internet files from your computer.
5. Scan your computer by using any updated antivirus program.
6. Try to install and download the "Antimalwarebytes" (freely available
7. Try to update "Antimalwarebytes".
8. Scan your computer using the "Antimalwarebytes".
9. Please follow the same procedure for "Superantispyware" as you done for "Antimalwarebytes".

Just for fun I'd like to say I solved 99.9% of my spyware/virus problems by downloading one ISO file.
They call it Linux.
Yes it works much better than MicroSnot in "EVERY WAY!"
Yes it can be attacked too, just not quite so much.
My systems run a CRONTAB every day that scans for virus, spyware, trojens and rootkits.
Also have a Linux firewall with software that scans incoming data streams.
It is a separate machine. Has four Ethernet cards. My systems are each on different cards. Wireless ISP systems are on one card. My business network on another. Yet another for servers, WEB, MAIL etc. I then actually have one dedicated port for my home use machines.
My business and home occupy the same building but I like them to be seperate.
Security and taxes are the reasons.
Please don't get mad and flame me. I have come to love Linux and despise MicroSnot.
If your a techie then it's time you move to a Techie's system. Linux!
Linux is UNIX on Steriods!
MicroSnot is UNIX on LSD!
