| Drivers for an old Packard Bell
Ok, this is driving me nuts. I have always claimed to be smart when it comes to puters, but this one is without resolve. My inlaws have an older Packard Bell that they purchased at radio shack in Canada quite a few years ago. Now, I upgraded them from ME to XP thinking that XP would have the necessary drivers for all the periphs. I was wrong. THere are two I cannot find.
1. PCI simple communications controller
2. video controller (VGA compat.)
It is a Packard Bell Club 91C model with a celeron 600 cpu.
If you can help, I would forever be indebted.... |

driverguide.com Posting the link is okay, but posting the Username/Password to the site is not. If somebody wants it, they can register like most everybody else does and get it like you're supposed to. EvilRick |

thanks mingy,
but I have tried that. The problem is the mobo for this system I cannot find anywhere. I believe it is a Houston motherboard, but I am not sure. PCI controller obviously causes problems with adding any additional PCI periphs. and the onboard video I have no idea what it is. I have tried to install almost everything out there. |

are you sure the pci communications controller isn't the modem card. remove the device from system manager, power down, and remove the modem card. try booting it again afterwards.
packard bell was acquired by NEC a while back. this may help: http://www.modem-help.com/mfcs.php?mid=87 |

"PCI simple communications controller"

I am pretty sure it is not the modem card because there does not seem to be one. Unless it is onboard and hidden |

Hi...i have just recoved my laptop .and ich have installed xp on it.
unfortunately did i have the same problem with you.
to the Video Controller : http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=34
it should be integrated Video card on motherboard.
to the pci communications controller : it is really the modem onboard.
wish you good lucky( i hate the things intergrated on Motherboard) |
