That will definately handle the new games. But the main piece of hardware that will hold you back in games, if its not good enough, is your video card.
also...will this be able to handle the upcoming games; i am rly confused because intel has like 3.4's out and amd only has smaller numbers, but people still say amd is better? WHY?

its just because of the different ways the intel vs AMD chips are designed...the intel can spin more rpms but the AMD has a higher gear ratio...so it doesnt have to spin as many rpm's to get the same work done.
or look at it like the intel is a 500 dragster and the AMD is a 300mph lamborghini....of course the intel is faster on a straightaway...but what about in the turns?
