| Right mouse-click lag
i am running windows xp pro (no SP), AMD 2000+ 768MB PC2100 (3x 256MB), Giga-byte GA-7VAXP. When I right click on a folder of any kind, the window quits responding for a couple minutes, if not more. If i let this window sit like this for that long, ti comes back to normal, but i can't right click. I am a gamer, I limit what runs at start-up to save resources. Attached are pictures of all the processes i have running, and also of msconfig and what i have disabled. I read through this thread: http://www.techimo.com/forum/t115639.html But i am not having the 100% cpu usage like this guy was. Thanks for any help and elt me know if you need more information.

I have that same problem when I want to copy stuff over, or right-clicking in general. I hope someone can offer the correct solution. |

Depends on the mouse driver. e.g. When you open the mouse utility you should see a tabbed window. One of the tabs (again depending on your mouse and its driver) will give a dialog box in which you can change the functionality of buttons, wheel, or whatever.
Also check device manager for the mouse for more options. Since the mouse support is with three or so drivers, you have the choice of looking at your backup, if you have one, or you can uninstall the mouse, boot, and the mouse should reinstall. Hopefully, that will cure your problem. |

What anti-virus program are you running? I know that NAV is a resource hog. I used to use it and eventually gave it up for AVG 6.0 and now my right clicks are instantaneous. |

I think this problem was traced to a specific update to Norton AV.
I had the same deal for a day. after subsequent updates it went away. |
