I have been considering buying a new computer for some time now, but in order to cut costs, I was planning on separately buying a new case (comes with motherboard and processor), a new video and sound card, and using my old dvd drive and hard drive. Is there a way to check to see if the sound and video cards will be compatible with the case i am planning to purchase? (i don't think i have to worry about hard drive and dvd and cd/rw drive compatibility issues but correct me if i'm wrong)
(nothing spectacular but i figure it's not that expensive and will hold me over for 2 years or so til i can get a top of the line system...it'll still be much better than my 3 yr old comp right now )

pretty much all vid cards and all sound cards are going to fit fine in a standard atx case.
of course most motherboards now come with onboard sound already and soem come with 6ch onboard.....so you probably dont HAVE to buy the sound card unless you just want it...
