What is G-mail exactly and why are there invites? is this to restrict the number of people who have them?

Gmail is Google's current beta e-mail program. Since it is a beta program, a person has to be invited to use Gmail. Since just about everyone that wants a Gmail has one, or is close to getting one, lots of people have invites.

as far as i read stuff on gmail thread i think is like network marketing the more you invite someone the more you mail space i don't really know may go to the website for further information.

Comon folks. It's just mail. What can anyone possibly do to make it more exciting. Text goes from your mailbox to someone elses, whoooo! Alert the press.

It's e-mail. Which means it is not secure, by design. E-mail is not intended to be a secure medium.

sadly G-Mail has a great spam filter, my spam account, superspamman@gmail.com , doesn't have a single peice of spam in the inbox. Even though it recieves 1600+ peices of spam a day. I was hoping to fill up the full gig.
