Cool
SP2 for XP

Question about SP2..........

This may sound like a dumb question, will the updates with SP2 elimiate the need for antivirus software like Norton Antivirus ? Has anyone had conflicts with Norton Antivirus and SP2 ?

sp2 contains security patches to IE, the firewall and other components.

there is no anti-virus capability in XP so installing sp2 to your machine has nothing to do with norton AV...you will still need norton if you want anti-virus protection.

It would probably be best if you had an antivirus program, just in case. Because some of the times, Microsoft's patches are for holes already found in windows. Old virus, new hole; AntiVirus to the rescue.

I would still use whatever AV program you have. Just see if they have an update in case SP2 breaks it.

So how long do you guys think it will be before microsoft has its own AntiVirus software that they start including with their OS'? Im surprised it hasn't happened already.
