| mouse moves, but i don't move it..help???
i have a 2button plus (wheel) mouse "GE"...and for some reason, i can not be touching it and the curser will just start moving...it does it erraticlly and i don't have any pattern to explain on it...?? Doesn't Win XP install drivers (just did a new install) ...
this also affects my screen saver due to i have it set up to pwr down the monitor then shut down the HD after an hour, but when the mouse decides to move on it's own it turns everything back on...grrrr

I'm guessing that this is an optical mouse? You need a surface with better contrast and detail.
I call that phenominon "mousewalk" in optical mice.

yeah you could also have some liquid on the lens, ive noticed that if you set the mouse on some water or something, the liquid nature of the water and the refraction in the water makes it do this.
If its a mouse ball, well... its possessed |

it's not an optical mouse, just a standard ball mouse...on a flat wood desk, does it on the desk and on the mouse pad...
it only started after i did this new install with SP2 |

Check the manufacturer's web site for recent driver updates. |

If not it is just something wrong whit the mouse...... |

i think your mouse is just interpreting borderline voltage variations as a full state change, instead of ignoring them. possibly a less than optimal tie to ground on one of the components or logic gates. try a new mouse. make sure it is a optical one. no more gummedup rollers to clean. precise and smooth. bliss.

might try a new mouse...this one is in great shape...pretty new...just odd why it does it..the ball is clean and there is nothing on the inside rollers to clean off...odd...but i think a new mouse might be in order then... |
