Greetings to all.
First of I'll start with my budget. I'm willing to spend about 2k on this system, and I will be using it for a lot of gaming.
Second, I was thinking of going with these components
AMD Athlon64 3500
Raptor 74GB x 2? (Maybe setting them up in a RAID 0) Not a high priority
My RAM will be determined after I figure out how much money I have left
Basically what I'm asking is what would be a good mobo to use?
What types of cases would be good?
Or anything else you think would help me.
Thank you for your time.

I'm guessing your looking at the 939 chip, but sence I don't know I can only suggest ABIT or Gigabyte. We need more info. Like, are you needing a video card, or plan to use on board video?? What kind of case do you like, pre-mod with lights, or plain beige case?? And so on............

Yeah 2k USD. I'm a multimedia student doing a lot of 3-d rendering so i just want something faster than what i have now to cut down on rendering times. I'm also going to use it for a lot of games will need a video card as well. Oh yeah its the 939 chipset. I can use my old monitor and OS this is just for the computer's hardware.
thanks for the replies btw.
anymore info you need?

A raptor by itself is probably as fast as anyone would need...RAID 0, in most peoples experience, doesnt really add too much speed....but it does put all of your data at more risk....cuz you have twice the chance to lose data...cuz if EITHER drive goes, you lose all the data
id just get 1 raptor and use the money on something else.....or get 1 raptor to run the os off of etc and MAYBE get another hard drive for backup of important data....

also, you should check out the Logitech z-680's. Total output wattage: 500!, 188 Sub and I hear it's awesome for movies and games. About 225 USD from Newegg.com
