| 400mhz dual channel setup running at 320 mhz dual channel.
I am confused about why my motherboard won't make my dual channel ram run at 400mhz. I have two 512mb 400mhz sticks and when I put them in individually they work at 400mhz, however when i set them up for dual channel when I start the computer it says that they are running at 320 mhz. My motherboard book says when you have 2 PC 2700 sticks they will run at 320mhz due to chipset limitations however the book does not indicate that this applies to pc3200 ram. Does anyone have any suggestions? Do I have to change something in BIOS? Or is there anyway I can force my computer to run them in 400mhz? |

Check in the BIOS for a memory frequency setting or possibly a memory divider setting. Make sure the setting is set to 400MHz or 1:1 (to match the FSB). |

Yeah I just enabled the overclock tuner in BIOS and changed the DRAM frequency to 400mhz, that shouldnt have any side effects should it? just because the motherboard wants to run it at that speed doesn't mean that by making it run at the proper speed will break something, is that right? |

| Run a couple loops of your favorite game or benchmark. Assuming it is stable, then you are good to go. |
