I didn't realize I was doing the "super saver" - that certainly was NOT made clear to me. I thought I was just getting "standard" shipping. I was expecting UPS Ground or some such thing. I knew I was in trouble when the first tracking info showed DHL.
Again, Newegg has some fantastic prices - but I think their shipping needs some attention. |

Selecting the shipping can't get any easier. When you order something, they give you a list of shipping methods and it will tell you who is going to ship it. It will say Fedex or UPS and the Eggsaver has a disclaimer saying that it uses USPS. The Eggsaver is their free shipping. UPS 3 day gaurantee is what I always choose as it is the cheapest one other than free shipping and they really do mean 3 days.

Yep, the list is in plane sight, It just defaults to the cheapest way if you don't make a choice. That's the way it should work.

Eeeek - the dawn of the living thread...
Yes, DHL no longer does shipping themselves between US locations. They do offer a "Global Mail" service which the Egg often uses for small items on which they offer "free shipping" as well as some others. I just got some Kingston 4GB SDHC flash cards that were on the blockbuster deal at $5.00 each. The Egg used that DHL Global Mail service and the way they were packaged jeez - 1.2 oz, 11.5x15" of padded envelope to carry 0.4 oz (0.2 oz each - each in a 2 x 2.5" clamshell) of chips and packaging. IDK how that can save any money, except I see that they used labeling product market UPS that they probably got from UPS for free on this USPS package. Disgusting waste when a 6x9" padded envelope would have been perfectly adequate.
Plus here is the travel: picked up in Edison NJ at 6pm on Jan. 19, logged at DHL facility in Rutherford at 2:25pm on the 20th, processed there at 9:00 pm that day, delivered to USPS in Rutherford at 4:13am on the 21st. I think it arrived here Friday, the 23rd. Most UPS ground out of NJ arrives here the next day or the day after at most unless a weekend intervenes.
The Egg gives themselves some order processing leeway basically so they can almost always beat it. As I said, if I buy a product that needs to go by UPS and can ship from the NJ warehouse, it almost always gets here the next day except around the holidays. Looks pretty good when they don't even claim to get it out the door in 48 hrs (unless you pay more for expedited handling)... The only Saturday delivery that doesn't cost tons more is FedEx Home/ground and I'm not sure even FedEx still does that.

That's okay - I'm a big boy. Guess I'll just learn to pay more attention to detail from now on.

| No and we don't wash then either. Perhaps if you had not been so aggressively trashing NewEgg on a site that has probably a 90% approval of them, then the tenor may have been different. Oh, and BTW, digging up 4 year old threads didn't help you either. I don't mind it but some guys think it's next to blasphemy.

| NewEgg shipping going downhill quick
yeah... I was a NewEgg fan for many years, and used to tell everyone how great their service was. Some recent shipping problems have me considering other options. On my last few purchases, their standard 3 day ups shipping has taken 7 days. Both times I ordered early on Monday and waited until Wednesday for the pick-up scan and tracking number... Of course my credit card was approved and charged in under 10 minutes after the order was finalized both times. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth, especially on the 2nd order. I actually thought giving them the extra 2.99 to rush the order would help speed things up... but received the exact same crappy service. I think most people would be disappointed over something like this.
When I pay for 3 day shipping, It's reasonable to expect my purchase at the door in 3 or 4 days... not a 3 day wait before the UPS pickup scan!?!?
Maybe my experience is isolated, I certainly hope so... but unless I find out that this is just a glitch, I'm through with newegg for a while. |

This is the time of year when people are now buying Christmas presents and retailers are getting a lot more orders.
As for the rush order, I never get that as it usually is a waste of money. If you do not order the item early in the day, then the rush order won't make a bit of difference. It really only helps if you order early in the morning and want the item to ship out by that night.
And after the item gets picked up from UPS, FEDUP, DHL, ect... then it is out of Newegg's hand. If the item gets ship within that 48 hour timeframe, you can't hold anything against Newegg if the item is not delivered within 3 days as it is now the shipping company that has responsibility.
Newegg is the best because of their service. While they have good prices, they are NOT the cheapest. I would rather spend a few extra dollars to buy something from Newegg than to save a little bit from another online store. |

I do agree that delivery times don't seem to be effected by "rush orders" and therefore "rush orders" are a complete waste of money. |
