Need help fixing a floppy drive error.
A friend gave me a generic pc and everytime I boot the pc I get an error message that reads "floppy drive(s) fail (40)" press F1 to continue or DEL to enter SETUP. It fails on the initialization. When I press F1 the pc goes through its normal boot sequence and I am able to use the Floppy drive as if nothing is wrong. I'm tired of pressing the F1 key to continue. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks |

| Flip it!
Flipping the ribbon cable which attaches your floppy drive to MB will solve your problem. |

If the floppy is able to be used once in windows then the issue is not the cable being inserted wrong,
Instead go into your bios and under "Advanced Setup"... scroll down to "Floppy drive seek" disable this option... also disable floppy drive swap... save the changes and reboot...
This should take care of the warning on startup... |

Also while in windows you can go to my computer/properties/performance/floppy disk and uncheck "the search for new floppy disk drives each time your computer starts"
