I've been eyeing this mon up so I actually orderd it tonight due to black friday. http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...179-005&DEPA=0
I scrounged the last $ I needed and went ahead and got it. Im afraid if I wait till after it would be gone. After waiting like 3 months wasnt taking the chance. THing about black friday sales is the great deals move FAST.
EDIT: Thought Id add what made me favour this monitor. Its 16ms response 1280x1024 res. 500:1 best contrast 450:1 sustained. Manufacturer replaces mon if 3 dead pixels found. Not 8 like newegg says and most other monitors. 1 customer reported it had a pixel stuck red in the cneter of screen-thats all that was wrong but was annoying. They still replaced it. I like to hear that stuff. 3 year warrenty topped it off. Not 1 like alot of them.

A good strategy for getting the "hot" items is to purchase it on Wednesday and get credited on Friday.
Fat Wallet has a lot of great BF info every year, BTW.

I was planning on buying a video card a couple days early then going back to the store and ask them to price match it. You guys think they'd do that? I think they might not because aren't black friday deals for only the days specified in the ad? |

Yep only the days specified. And further more price matching doesnt apply to special sales for most stores. Only retail. Ive had that bad news a few times.

"XFX is one of NVIDIA''s premier board partners. By this, we mean that they are allowed to hand pick the GPU’s in order for them to be capable of reaching higher clock speeds than what the majority of NVIDIA''s other board partners are capable of."
Id go with XFX myself, check that review. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...150-080&depa=0
Thats not bad for the GT agp 8x version. $225! Top notch brand too. I would love to hav ethat card. But I REALLY needed a monitor first. Uh, thats my next wait 3-6 months minimal upgrade. $$$ is tight. I feel too much more crt use though and I would have gone blind! My mon is old and its fuzzy compaired to newer ones. Dot pitch is terrible in compairison to new models. Its 4 years old almost. 19" what do you expect.

You buy it early, then go during the sale on BF (leave the items in your car, in case you need them, but you probably won't). If they give you a hassle, tell them you want to return it and then repurchase it (at the BF price). BE NICE, and tell them you bought it Wednesday and then you saw it in the TDay newspaper. I've never had an issue doing it.
PMs are possible (at some stores), but all the stars need to be in alignment... |

What refresh and dot size? Prolly standard .264 but I really had hard time finding the refresh on some models. Not knowing that is a HUGE gamble. As lots of them are still +20ms. Terrible for gaming. The ones at our wal-mart are 25ms. Ugh. And $250 for 15". I didnt look at staples though. Maybe I should have. Online their prices are always off. Thing I dont like is they tend to advertise a sale price then when you get there its "after rebate". 3 months later you get the $ back. Ciruit City tends to do this aswell. |
