grainy? is your colour set to 16 bit, instead of 24 or 32? lcd monitors may not have the full colour range of crt, that is another reason it may appear grainy. the adapter, would be another source of picture deterioration, converting from analogue to digital. every conversion lessens quality. the dvi is only worth using if your video card can use it natively. the only reason the adapter was with your card was to cover for a dvi only monitor. |

hold on, has your vid card got a dvi output?
if it has, then you may get a small improvement. |

Make sure your video card drivers are installed properly. If your LCD supports DVI and your video card supports DVI, I'd highly recommend getting a DVI cable. I've been told the difference is outstanding.
If you're plugging your monitor into the DVI port via a VGA to DVI adapter, you shouldn't have any trouble.

Using a converter on the DVI port will not yeild in any benifits over using the standart VGA port. If you want DVI, get the cable. I've seen the difference, and I honestly didn't see much, if any. Maybe at higher resolutions, DVI may make a noticable difference. But at 1280x1024 which is what most LCD's native resolution is, the difference is neglagable at best. |
