Okay I am looking to buy a digital camera under $160.
I need recommendations because there are so many of 'em. I want it to be both digitalcamera and video camera.
Right now I am looking into these 2 - Aiptek DV4500
and
the new Aiptek Pocket DV5300.
My friend has the DV 4500 and it seems pretty good. ANyone have experience with the DV 5300?

I have the pretty much same camera as Headband (Canon Powershot A75) and it is definitely an excellent excellent camera. Prints look beautiful (took it to Ritz Camera) and it captures colors fantastic. I was amazed at the photos I took in hawaii. Really nice quality. Its 3.2 MP and the only difference between the A75 and the A400 is the former has 3.0x optical zoom while the latter has 2.2x optical zoom. Both have pretty much the same features otherwise (A75 might have more custom function though I dont know for sure)
But canon gets 2 thumbs up for me. Most digital cameras do have the capacity for movie taking as well (limited by the size of the memory card you get obviously). My camera doesn't allow you to zoom while it is taking a movie though which is weird but whatever....I never use that function

I am a Canon fan as well, Canon A series are great!
Those camcorder things are cheap, but I never trust things that can both record movies and take pictures at the same time. It could either do one function well, and the other horribly, or both functions a little below average.
Buy the Canons!

Get the one with the best lens you an afford---thats the most expensive and critical part of the camera that determines your overall results/picture quality---
All the megapixels in the world wont make up for a funky cheap lens... |
